A Patio Refresh in Teal & Tangerine

Each spring, after we’ve refreshed our mulch and added some new potted and hanging flowers, I always like to update our back patio with new accessories for the upcoming summer.

Our patio area is a cozy rectangular shaped escape, visible from our living room thanks to a double set of French doors. It’s our tranquil retreat after a long day at work- we often like to head outside with cocktails for happy hour before dinner.

The patio is big enough to comfortably accommodate a round dining table that seats four (in the middle), along with two wicker lounge chairs and a side table on the right, and a serving table and grill on the left. With mostly chocolate and grey pieces of furniture, I prefer to add pops of color through accessories and décor.

This year, I’m going to incorporate three new accessories to refresh the look.

Rug

A pretty teal rug will add a much need dose of color to add to the summery palette of blue, orange, and green.

The flower print in this rug adds a bit of dimension without being too busy for the outdoor space.

Lantern

While I adore gazing upon potted flowers on the table, my green thumb is lacking and they often die within weeks from over or underwatering. (Ok, if I’m truly honest, underwatering.)

To keep things simple this year, I plan to opt for a large lantern to serve as a centerpiece and offer some romantic lighting in the evening. Loving the rustic vibe of this lantern.

Pillows

An easy way to add comfort, style, and color to any living space- pillows.

Since our lounge chairs could use a color update, these orange pillows with a geometric print punch up the color palette without being overdone.

What ways do you refresh your porch or patio each year?
