Tom Lake by Ann Patchett

I have to say, I adore Ann Patchett’s work- she is a masterful storyteller. I enjoyed reading Tom Lake earlier this summer and highly recommend it! 🍒

Beautifully written, this story offers an insightful look at how we grow through hard times, how family relationships can leave their mark on us, and that love, in its many forms, drives us and makes us human.

Thank you to Harper Collins and Net Galley for the ARC of this gem!

Between Us by Mhairi McFarlane

An encompassing look at relationships and how our perception of them can be altered with time and experience. This was my first Mhairi McFarlane book, and it definitely won’t be my last!

The author crafted a kaleidoscope of characters that brought to life the complexities of today’s relationships, be it friendship, love, or familial. I highly recommend Between Us, and will now be adding the author’s backlist to my TBR pile!

Thank you Netgalley and Harper Collins for the opportunity to read this ARC.

No Two Persons by Erica Bauermeister

I was given this book as a gift for my birthday and it was THE most excellent choice. I loved it!

It’s a study on how no two people take away the same experience from reading a story. The characters are all touched in one way or another from a novel and the book follows how each character responds, reflects, and ruminates after reading it.

The Secret Book of Flora Lea by Patti Callahan Henry

If you’re a fan of historical fiction set during WWII then this is a must! Henry crafts an engaging tale around the Operation Pied Piper program that took place in England during the war where children living in London were relocated to safety in the countryside.

Two sisters, Flora and Hazel, are evacuated to a rural village, but tragedy strikes when Flora goes missing. The story follows Hazel for over 20 years as she searches to find out what happened to her sister.
